Spring 2027 Meal Plans
Meal plans from the Fall 2026 semester automatically renew for the Spring 2027 semester. If you would like add a meal plan, or change or cancel (off-campus residents only) your current plan:
November 30, 2026: Spring 2027 meal plans can be purchased online from this date forward.
November 30-December 4, 2026: Change or cancel your meal plan online with no administrative fee.
December 5, 2026-January 24, 2027: New meal plan sign up only. No changes or cancellation allowed during the university billing cycle.
January 25-January 29: Prorated meal plan change online ($20 administrative fee except first-year on-campus students), or prorated cancellations ($50 administrative fee with online form and in-person visit to Dining HQ). MEAL PLAN CANCELLATION REQUIRES THE STUDENT TO COME TO DINING HQ IN PERSON TO CONFIRM CANCELLATION.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can meal plans be used during university breaks?
Meal plan swipes do not work during university breaks. Dining Dollars are accepted at open locations. Swipes generally resume at 4:30 p.m. the evening before school reopens. The exception is Winter Break when swipes resume at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday evening (Monday is a holiday).
Can a parent change a meal plan on behalf of a student?
No. Due to FERPA laws, all communication about meal plans must come from the student by phone, in-person, or their dukes.jmu.edu email address.
Why do I have to come in person to cancel my meal plan?
We require students to come in person to verify their identity and confirm the cancellation is accurately processed in their presence.
Can I convert my meal plan to Flex?
No. Meal plans cannot be converted to Flex.
Why is there a fee to change or cancel my meal plan after January 24?
Once meal plans are billed to student accounts, additional labor is required to make a change or cancellation.
How are meal plans prorated?
Meal plans become a financial responsibility on the date of sign-up regardless of whether you have paid for or used the meal plan. Weekly and All-Access plans are prorated based on time; Block plans are prorated based on usage.
Are Duke Deals in addition to the number of swipes on a meal plan, or included in the number of swipes?
Duke Deals are included in the number of swipes that come with a meal plan. For example, the 14 Weekly plan includes 14 total swipes regardless of where they are used. The maximum number of swipes that can be used for Duke Deals is two, but they are deducted from the 14 swipes allotted per week.

*With the exception of All Access plans, DUKE DEALS are part of your meal swipe allocation, not in addition. You can use more than two swipes per day, but only two can be Dukes Deals and they will be deducted from your Meal Swipe balance.
